Geese

There are so many geese up here! The other day as I was driving through town, a family of geese were crossing the road and I had to stop as they passed. The goslings were pretty big compared to the other families I have seen so far, almost teenagers.
Last week when I was driving back to Milwaukee, I drove through the Horicon Marsh and saw TONS of goose families along the highway! If you ever have the chance, take Highway 33 through the Horicon Marsh (but drive slowly!) because there is so much wildlife, the highway has become part of the ecosystem! There were at least 7 or 8 goose families right along the blacktop, some crossing, others keeping their children in line.
I have also seen cornfields full of geese, at least 150 geese all congregated together in one! I didn't realize they were such social creatures, and I wonder what they are thinking or talking about during these goose conventions. The above picture goes along with this idea (although you can't clearly see them on this page), as there are five separate goose families swimming along with one another! Do you think they are all related (like, all the Momma ducks are sisters?) or are they just good goosey pals?
